Millennium offers programs for populations with special needs: Millennium Bodies Fitness specializes in prevention of injury or disease, maintenance of good health, or improvement for those with special considerations. We will work with your physician or other health care professional as required. There are over a dozen health related benefits of strength training for seniors. Following are a few of the research based findings, call me for the rest. 1. Bone Mineral Density Studies show a dramatic increase Bone Mineral Density in seniors who engage in weight resistance exercise. 2. Increase Gastrointestinal Transit Speed [GTS] Slow GTS is implicated in a high risk of colon cancer. Studies have shown a 56% increase in GTS after only three months of regular strength training. 3. Reduced Resting Blood Pressure Strength training alone has been show to significantly reduce resting blood pressure in hypertensive people. ˜ Except in rare cases, OB/GYN's advise pregnant moms to continue their exercise programs into the second trimester. Millennium Bodies Fitness trainers know what exercises you should do and, more importantly, what exercises you should stay away from. ˜ Improve Glucose Metabolism Researchers have reported a 23% increase in glucose uptake after just four months of strength training. Regular strength training may reduce the occurrence of Adult Onset Diabetes. Over weight adults and children are at high risk of Type II diabetes. A routine of regular strength training will help you lose those unwanted pounds, and make you healthy as well as beautiful. ˜ Research shows that properly performed strength exercise does not adversely affect cardiovascular function, heart rhythm, or blood pressure. That is most cardiac rehab patients can perform appropriate strength training with out consequence. Millennium Bodies Fitness has the programs to help Cardiac Rehab patients. ˜ Coming Soon ˜ Coming Soon ˜ Coming Soon ˜ Coming Soon ˜ There was a time, not so long ago, when any kind of physical activity was deemed unwise for people with multiple sclerosis. Fears were that exercise wouldn't be tolerated, could make the MS worse and may not be effective anyway. Doctors were particularly concerned that exercise would increase core body temperature which is detrimental to people with MS. With an eye toward the special considerations MS patients need specifically an environment that prevents a rise in core body temperature, Millennium Bodies Fitness can build a coordinated exercise plan can improve socialization and decrease isolation, promote well being and improve self esteem, prevent symptoms secondary to MS, maintain or improve range of motion and flexibility in joints, increase endurance , and maximize muscle strength. ˜ With physical inactivity and morbid obesity in youth, our communities are in desperate need of effective exercise programs. Here at Millennium Bodies Fitness we are dedicated to reversing the trend in youth obesity. We will gladly work with the school system, other local representatives, or parents to build an effective program for youth. Our programs do not emphasize weight training for the young, but rather focus on agility and balance, sound eating habits, and strive to develop interests in our young clients in activities that are fun and an effective means of maintaining a healthy lifestyle into adulthood. ˜ Pre & Post Operative Bariatric Surgery Bariatric surgery has become the most common and popular medical form of treatment for obesity. In the U.S., the number of bariatric surgeries performed each year has increased by a factor of five during the past seven years, to well over 100,000 procedures annually. For most obese people, surgery is the last resort resulting from years of failed diets. Ten percent to 15 percent of surgery patients fail to reach an acceptable eight loss of at lest 40% of their excess body weight because the don't make the necessary lifestyle changes. Conversely, 85% to 90% of surgery patients lose at least 40% of their excess body weight, and many lose significantly more than that. Exercise is the single most beneficial tool in helping patients maintain their weight loss. The Lifestyle and Weight Management consultants at Millennium Bodies Fitness work closely with a Bariatric surgeon, and can help you develop the habits you need for success before your surgery, and offer you the appropriate post-operative plans to keep you losing weight while maintaining lean tissue to assure your success. ˜ |
